Uncharted: The Lost Legacy story details, timeline revealed

Naughty Dog this weekend unveiled what many people had anticipated: standalone Uncharted DLC. Was was unexpected, however, was the fact that the new content focuses on Chloe Frazer, a character we haven’t seen since Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.

While it’s possible to parse information from the lengthy gameplay demo Naught Dog showed off, the developer revealed more details about the upcoming content during a panel discussion at the PlayStation Experience.

According to Naughty Dog creative director Shaun Escayg, The Lost Legacy takes place after the events of Uncharted 4, with the section we saw taking place at the beginning of the game. We quickly find out that Chloe will be working with Nadine Ross, whose storyline in Uncharted 4 was never really resolved in a satisfying way..

Escayg went on to reveal the two characters will be searching for the Tusk of Ganesha.

Here’s a description, via Wikipedia, about the tusk’s mythos:

One day, Parashurama, an avatar of Vishnu, went to pay a visit to Shiva, but along the way he was blocked by Ganesha. Parashurama hurled himself at Ganesha with his axe and Ganesha (knowing that this axe was given to him by Shiva) allowed himself out of respect to be struck and lost his tusk as a result.

Chloe’s story will be tonally different from that of Drake’s, according to Escayg. Fans of the franchise will remember that Chloe’s character is very serious and doesn’t take any crap, which contrasts with Drake’s often blasé attitude.

As for the game’s length, The Lost Legacy will apparently be longer than the Left Behind DLC Naughty Dog introduced for The Last of Us, though not quite as long as Uncharted 4. Either way, it’s going to be a satisfying piece of DLC.

Now, we just have to wait for Naughty Dog to announce a release date and price. For what it’s worth, The Last of Us was released in June of 2013 and in February 2014, the developer released Left Behind.
