Apple confirms iTunes Connect will close down for the holidays

Apple has confirmed that iTunes Connect will be closed over the holidays. Developers will not be able to submit new apps or updates between December 23 and December 27, but other iTunes Connect and developer account features will remain available during this time.

Apple always closes iTunes Connect over the holidays, so this is nothing new. By giving developers plenty of notice, it gives them the chance to get new apps into the App Store and update existing ones in advance so they’re ready for the holiday rush.

“The busiest season on the App Store is almost here. Make sure your apps are up-to-date and ready for the winter holidays,” Apple says. “New apps and app updates will not be accepted December 23 to 27 (Pacific Time), so any releases should be submitted, approved, and scheduled in advance.”

Apple doesn’t specify how much time it will need to approve new submissions, so to be safe, you’ll need to get your app in as quickly as possible. Submissions made close to December 23 almost certainly won’t be approved before iTunes Connect goes down.

App Store downloads reach new highs over the Christmas period as customers look to get their hands on as much content as possible for the iPhones, iPads, and iPods that were delivered by Santa. If you’re a developer, you definitely don’t want to miss out.
