While we are watching the biggest games of 2016 getting their accolades at The Game Awards this coming Thursday, we’ll also get a sneak peak at a game that is bound to be in the running for the 2017 show. Both Nintendo and The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley confirmed through Twitter that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be making an appearance of some kind during the broadcast.

Final Fantasy and The Legend of Zelda at the same show?
My inner fanboy is being torn apart. If Final Fantasy XV is able to carry its critical success this deep into 2017, it will be in direct competition with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and I don’t think my warring halves can handle it! Of course, I haven’t played either game just yet, and I’m operating entirely upon my respective histories with both franchises. There is also a chance that I don’t like either game or something like Persona 5 or a newcomer will slip in and steal the show.
However, with 30 years of both franchises behind me, it’s a rivalry that is bound to play out for the next three decades of my life as well! This age-old rivalry begins anew in 2017, and I can’t wait!
