GameStop hosted a recent earning call in which it revealed some key sales statistics for the games it’s selling.
On the whole, revenue and profit for GameStop decreased year-on-year. Pre-owned games have dipped in sales, and the banner titles slated for this year have underperformed.
The most surprising underperformer, at least in the minds of investors, was Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. While GameStop didn’t share specific results, it did state that the game sold fewer units than expected.
Pokémon Sun and Moon performed exceptionally well
Riding on that Pokémon GO wave of nostalgia and hype, Pokémon Sun and Moon both did well for GameStop. The pair were the best performing games for the whole year, and they were the most pre-ordered titles GameStop’s seen in five years.
The titles are doing well at other retailers, too. They sit as the best sellers in gaming on Amazon as I write this post, and it’s been that way for a while now.
