Pokémon GO’s Halloween event was a huge success that inspired Pokémon trainers around the world to catch over 1.3 billion ghosts and undead monsters. Niantic is now at the point where it can plan these events well in advance, and it will replicate that success with this week’s Thanksgiving event!
No special Pokémon will be popping up like the ghosts did, but the event will offer double experience points and Stardust for each Pokémon caught and PokéStop visited. I still think Niantic should have increased the presence of all bird Pokémon, but whatever.
The event kicks off tomorrow, Nov. 23rd, 2016 at 7:00 PM EST/4:00 PM PT, and it will last until the end of the month.
Pokémon GO is still really popular, and these events only help
It might not be stealing headlines like it did back in July, but Pokémon GO is still finding its way to new players. The Halloween event, plus not wanting to get beat out by my parents, pushed me to start playing again, and it’s a much more complete experience than before, even as early as September.
I’m hoping for more of these events from here on out, anything to help shake up the monotony of the core experience.
