Moto handsets don’t get Android updates as quickly as they once did since Lenovo acquired Motorola, but the wait for Nougat is over for some. Owners of the Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid report that the update is slowly making its way to their devices.
The rollout started over the weekend, and Nougat has been slowly reaching more and more users ever since. Like most major Android upgrades, this one’s rolling out in phases, so not all handsets will see it straight away. But it’s certainly on its way.
Nougat brings features like split-screen multitasking, the ability to quickly switch between two apps, a whole bunch of new emoji characters, and better virtual reality with Daydream. It also improves gaming with the Vulkan API, and promises better battery life.
For now, it seems the Moto Z Droid and Force Droid are the only Moto devices that are getting Nougat, but it shouldn’t be too long before Lenovo makes it available to others. If you have a newer Moto phone, you can expect to be towards the front of the queue.
