During the Nintendo Switch reveal video, Nintendo highlighted a lot of things that sure looked like video games. They went on to state that everything in the video was purely conceptual, though that hasn’t stopped people from labeling the content within “confirmed.”
One of those games was Mario Kart, and it looked like an updated version of Mario Kart 8. Today, we have a rumor from a source with a strong Nintendo Switch track record that confirms that Mario Kart 8 news along with some extra details.
Mario Kart 8 will come to the Nintendo Switch, according to Emily Rodgers, and it will feature all Wii U content and DLC, brand new tracks, characters and, this is the big one, an all-new Battle Mode.
Yes, Rodgers’ sources say that the new Mario Kart 8 will launch within the first three months of the Nintendo Switch with Battle Mode.
Battle Mode was terrible in Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U
Mario Kart 8 is a fantastic video game, no doubt about it. It sold with a sorry excuse for a key feature, and many gamers knocked it for that in a big way. The game’s Battle Mode was a joke. It basically let players Battle on the standard tracks instead of maps made specifically for battle. Those tracks were great for racing, but not for battling, and Battle Mode suffered because of it.
If the Nintendo Switch does indeed feature Mario Kart 8 with a fixed Battle Mode, I’m all in.
