Apple and the expected OLED iPhone are back in the rumor mill today. At this point, most people expect Apple will release an iPhone with OLED display, but until that actually happens, rumors will continue to swirl. A report today suggests Apple will release three iPhone models, including an OLED model.
According to KGI Securities Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will release three versions of the iPhone next year: a 4.7-inch display with single camera and LCD display, a 5-5-inch model with dual cameras and LCD display and a 5.5-inch model with dual-cameras and an OLED display. If these rumors turn out to be true, it looks like Apple will market the OLED model as the premium iPhone.
“We look for new 2017F iPhones to come in three models,” said Kuo. “One OLED model, and two TFT-LCD models with 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch display. We believe the OLED and 5.5-inch TFT-LCD will feature dual-camera.”
Earlier this year, Kuo reported Apple would launch a 5.8-inch iPhone with curved OLED display, so takes these new rumors with a grain of salt. From now until the next iPhone is release, there will be a lot of rumors and leaks.
Apple tends to stick to the two model system comprised of the regular version with the Plus version. Earlier this year, there were rumors circulating that it might add a Pro version with the dual-camera to the line-up, but the feature ended up on the Plus version. There was also talk of a Smart Connector that never came to fruition. This new rumor suggests Apple might take a similar roadmap next year, but who really knows at this point.
iPhone 8 rumors won’t stop anytime soon
Until Apple releases its next iPhone, expected to be the biggest change in three years, there are going to be a ton of rumors, some true and some false. Pent up demand for a refreshed design and OLED display will continue to drive some of these reports, which may even just be speculation at best. Just take a cautious approach, because most often than not, these crazy rumors will turn out to be false. We’ll do the same.
