The voice of AOL’s “You’ve got mail” is driving for Uber, shows up on video

An Uber passenger happened to have a driver with a distinctive voice. Her driver was the same man behind the voice customers heard with AOL. That’s right, the guy who said “Welcome,” “You’ve got mail” and “Goodbye.”

This is pretty amazing. If you were an internet user in the United States during the 90s, you were probably on AOL. My family switched to it from Prodigy.

Prodigy! Oh, the nostalgia.

What’s this guy doing driving for Uber?

I have no idea. If I had to guess, though, I’d say he’s retired. Uber would be a pretty nice way to spend retirement. You’d be able to make some money while you drive around and meet new people. I’d be all over that if I was retired.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to dive face first into videos of old 90s ISPs in action.
