Would you look at that? In the wake of Evolve moving from free-to-play and then being dropped entirely by Turtle Rock Studios, the developer has released something special.
Dam It is now available. It’s an unreleased campaign from Left 4 Dead. Turtle Rock, if you didn’t know, made the original Left 4 Dead while still named Valve South.
What is Dam It? Here’s the exact word from the download page:
TRS’s last Left4Dead campaign that was never finished, along with a couple survival maps that never shipped. Dam It stitches Dead Air and Blood Harvest together.
The unofficial release of Left 4 Dead‘s Dam It is incomplete, friends
TRS did the world a solid by posting this release. You’ll need a copy of Left 4 Dead to make Dam It happen, for starters. Once it’s running, though, you will hit some snags.
This thing is unfinished, plain and simple. TRS offers that this add-on is straight up missing code, and that causes these problems.
- Fire, smoke and explosions do not trigger panic events in the hangars.
- Zombies do not crawl all the time in the orchard.
- Farm house mob does not spawn in the far side of the woods.
- Covered bridge does not collapse with explosions.
- Burned forest area is missing wandering fires.
The burning forest section has a burn trigger that stays on too long. If you move quickly you’ll take burn damage.
The dam spawn room is missing health kits and weapons.
The elevator models have an offset origin in the dam. Players can still get on and use them, but they are invisible and wall collision is missing.
Alright, Left 4 Dead fans. Dig in. Hit the source below for a link to the download.
