Destiny 2 is slated for 2017. The word comes directly from Activision during its recent financial briefing with investors.

Publishing Head Eric Hirshberg told listeners that the sequel to Destiny is still on schedule, and he offered a little excitement from Bungie.

“We’re on track and excited about what we think is going to be an awesome sequel for Destiny in 2017…

…the sequel is designed to excite both our highly engaged current players, but also to broaden the appeal even further, bringing in new fans and bringing back old fans as well.”

Activision even addressed Destiny‘s slow roll of content.

With Destiny 2, players are hoping for a gaming experience that delivers new stuff to play at a faster, steadier pace. According to Hirshberg, that’s the intention. Here he is once more.

“Beyond that, the incredible demand for Destiny content has somewhat outpaced our ability to deliver upon that demand, and going forward along with our partners at Bungie, have put together what we believe is a very smart approach that will allow us to deliver the steady stream of great content to keep our players engaged and keep our universe alive and growing in the wake of that sequel…”

Hopefully the sequel makes its way to PC. That player base is far too large to ignore at this point in time.

We’ll have more on Destiny 2 as it comes.
