Game developer thatgamecompany, best known for the PlayStation 3 and later PlayStation 4 title Journey, is finally teasing its next game, four and a half years after the release of its previous title.

The developer posted a few tweets to its official Twitter account. Right now, the game is simply called “thatnextgame,” and has its own Twitter feed with a couple tweets, shown above.

thatgamecompany wants to change the industry

Back in 2013, Threes! developer Asher Vollmer said when he left thatgamecompany that the next game from the developer would “change the industry in a positive way,” but that the game had some years left on development. The game could be entirely different from what Vollmer saw at this point, but the simple and lofty concept of ‘giving’ suggests thatgamecompany’s plans are still big.

While the spartan images above don’t give a lot of information, it’s possible that the aspect ratio of the images is hinting at a mobile release. Jenova Chen and his team have always made simple and accessible games, so a shift from consoles to mobile wouldn’t be a huge surprise. We’re looking forward to seeing what the developer is up to. The game is set to release sometime in 2017.
