Sony and Activision have joined again for the PS4 Pro and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. What you see above is an 80s-themed commercial featuring Sony’s console refresh and the Zombies mode for CoD.
All Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare DLC hits PlayStation 30 days before other platforms. The trailer indicates such over sweet tunes and under layers of VHS filtering.
Marketing teams take aim at Nostalgia
We’ve seen a lot of marketing pointed towards 80s and 90s kids. The NES Classic, this new trailer, the Dark Souls III VHS stuff from earlier this year. These gaming companies have clearly found that gunning for their consumers’ nostalgia gets them somewhere.
And, well, I know I want the NES Classic. This trailer? Yeah, it’s neat, but it’s not pushing me out the door to snag a PS4 Pro or Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
