Apple just announced the new MacBook Pro which offers unique features, like the OLED Touch Bar, but it packs even more.
The laptop is the first of Apple’s computers to support a Touch ID fingerprint reader, powered by an Apple T1 chip. That means it packs secure encrypted technology. Touch ID will no doubt be used to unlock the computer and for support for Apple Pay on websites. Apple Pay has already been supported, it just didn’t offer the Touch ID function. To access Touch ID, a user only needs to rest their finger right on the power button, which doubles as the fingerprint reader.
It’s unclear if Apple will add this to other computers, too, but it seems likely. We’ll let you know.
