Microsoft took the stage today and unveiled the next generation of its hybrid laptop, the Surface Book i7 or Surface Book with Premium Base. The design still looks relatively the same with some design tweaks, but it’s inside where all the major changes were made. We got to briefly check it out in New York City and see what it brings to the table.
Some of the notable additions Microsoft touted were it’s improved graphics performance (2x) and increased battery life (30 percent) that will get users up to 16 hours of usage. Microsoft also did some ingenious engineering to add hyperbolic fans that will keep the laptop cool.
To manage the beefed up internals, the external body of the Surface Book i7 got slightly thicker and weighs more (.15 lbs). The keyboard also got slightly recessed and the hinge was updated. These external updates are quite minor, only the most eagle-eyed onlookers will notice.
