Some of the best combos come in pairs: peanut butter and jelly; chips and guacamole; Kobe and Shaq. But the very best things come in threes, a philosophy Apple will apparently adopt next year.
According to Nikkei Asian Review, citing anonymous sources, Apple will reportedly introduce a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone in 2017—something we’ve been expecting. A third 5-inch option will allegedly be added to the lineup, too, making Apple’s mobile portfolio even more diverse.
From Nikkei Asian Review:
Apple has tentatively decided that all the 5.5-inch, 5-inch, and 4.7-inch models will have glass backs, departing from metal casings adopted by current iPhones…
We’ve been hearing Apple would be opting for an all-glass design similar to the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s, and Nikkei’s report further corroborates the rumor. The devices will also feature some kind of metal casing—either steel or aluminum, according to the report.
Previous reports have said the iPhone 8 will sport a curved design and a bezel-less OLED screen with a fingerprint sensor that’s built into the display.
Considering next year will mark the tenth anniversary of the iPhone, Apple is reportedly gearing up to make next year’s revamp a significant one. That might include, according to Nikkei, a third 5-inch iPhone.
The iPhone 7 barely just launched but given the importance of next year’s release, it’s no surprise that the rumor mill is already humming along.
