Every now and then, a hidden feature pops up in a new smartphone. Did you know, for example, that the Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL actually have a notification LED? Yep, there’s one hiding on the top of the phone, and Android Central recently revealed it’s a cinch to activate.
It’s off by default, but you can easily turn it on. No jumping through hoops or coding required, just a simple little toggle switch hidden in settings that you need to adjust.
- Open Settings
- Click on Notifications. It’s the second menu option down under “Device.”
- Tap on the gear icon at the top of the display. It’s in the right corner.
- Toggle the option next to “Pulse notification light.”
You’ll now start to see the LED notification blink when there’s an alert on your phone. It’s to the left of the earpiece at the top of the phone. It’s very small and subtle, but does the trick for folks who are used to having it on their smartphone. Weird Google didn’t just activate it by default.
