Apple just pushed the fifth beta of iOS 10.1 to developers. If you haven’t been following along, iOS 10.1 is the next release of iOS that will activate the “Portrait Mode” function on the iPhone 7 Plus. Portrait Mode creates professional-looking photographs using a “bokeh” effect, which essentially uses a combination of software and hardware to blur the background.
The fifth version almost certainly squashes bugs and improves performance. It also may be the very last iOS 10.1 beta, assuming all goes smoothly. A report this morning suggests that Apple will roll out the final version of iOS 10.1 as early as next week.
Get excited for Portrait Mode
iPhone 7 Plus owners should look forward to Portrait mode. Early tests suggests it works quite well, giving your photos a more professional flare if used properly. This is one of the main distinguishing features between the iPhone 7 Plus and the iPhone 7, which doesn’t have the extra camera sensor used to gather depth information.
Developers should find the update over-the-air now.
