Sleeping Dogs studio United Front Games reportedly shut down

As reported by Kotaku, development studio United Front Games closed its doors last night in a sudden move that caught many of its employees off-guard. The company, best known for its open-world critical-hit Sleeping Dogs, was working on a game called Smash + Grab, which just had a free weekend on Steam Early Access.

It also worked on the Xbox One version of Tomb Raider: Definitive EditionHalo: The Master Chief Collection, and a multiplayer spin-off of Sleeping Dogs called Triad Wars, which was canceled back in January.

So, no sequel, then?

It’s a shame, because Sleeping Dogs was one of the better open-world games to be released during the previous console generation. Fans immediately began hoping for a sequel, but it now looks like that isn’t going to happen.

Always sad to see a talented studio close its doors. Best of luck to those looking for a new job.
