Cuphead delayed into mid-2017

Studio MDHR has posted an update to their site regarding the current status of Cuphead. This title grabbed our attention with its style and maintained it with its Contra-esque gunplay.

We’ll have to wait a little while longer to try it out. Cuphead has been delayed out of 2016 and into “mid-2017.” It’s still bound for Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam, as Studio MDHR notes.

The studio didn’t really indicate the reason for the delay beyond that it felt it was required “in order to ship with our vision intact.” We hope it meets that mark.

Why it matters:

Cuphead was easily one of the biggest indie games bound for the Xbox One platform instead of PlayStation 4 this holiday. While it wasn’t going to be a big driving factor for sales, it served as another feather in Microsoft’s exclusivity cap.

Now, Cuphead has been pushed into 2017 like so many other promising titles. This fall is looking less and less stellar by the week, and that’s sort of a bummer as a gamer.
