Xbox Games with Gold in October clearly wants you spending money on retail games

Generally speaking, this is the time of year that Sony and Microsoft’s free game offers start to feel like they don’t want to give away that much. They lure you into buying the console with a great selection in September, but October is when all the big games start coming out. Neither company is keen on you playing free games when you could be paying money for the year’s biggest releases!

This year’s choices for October’s Games with Gold look just like that. From Oct. 1, Xbox One owners will be able to pick up Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings for free, and on Oct. 16, The Escapists will take its place as the free Xbox One game.

As for the Xbox 360, MX vs. ATV Reflex will be available in the first half of the month, followed by Ubisoft’s infamous I Am Alive in the second half.

So, which AAA games are you going to be playing this coming month? I don’t really see a lot of excitement to be had in these choices. Not horrible, but not exciting either. Don’t fret if you are new, though. The flow of good games will start in January, when Sony and Microsoft want you to start your premium subscriptions on that shiny new Christmas present Santa brought you.
