Xiaomi might have made its name with smartphones, but it’s now expanding into all areas of consumer electronics. The company’s latest gadget is a mirrorless camera capable of capturing 4K video at 30fps. It was developed with Xiaomi’s XiaoYi business and is dubbed the “M1.”
The camera weighs just 280 grams and sports a 20MP Sony IMX269 sensor, support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth file transfers and two different lens options; customers have the choice between a 42.5mm F1.8 or 12-40mm F3.5-5.6 lenses.
XiaoYi is putting the emphasis on simplicity with the M1, and highlights that it only has four buttons and a touch screen. That’s perhaps a bit of an exaggeration, however, since one of those “buttons” is actually a dial for selecting different camera modes.
The body and 12-40 mm lens will retail for about $330 while a second package that instead offers the 42.5mm lens will retail for about $450. The Yiu M1 should launch on September 23, according to Android Central.
