Captain America: Civil War gets roasted by Honest Trailers

Captain America: Civil War was one of the highlights of this summer’s slate of blockbusters. In a banner year for comic book movies, Civil War would probably have been the best of the bunch if it wasn’t for Deadpool’s raucous greatness. Nonetheless, it was a satisfying movie that delivered, but the Screen Junkies crew decided to examine it closer with an Honest Trailer episode and it’s amazing.

Disclaimer: There are spoilers ahead.

For everything it did right, Civil War was not a perfect movie, and Screen Junkies easily jumps on some of its shortcomings. Continuing the disappointing legacy of half-baked Marvel villains, you get another dose of an inconsequential villain with Baron Zemo, who seeks revenge after his family is killed in the fallout from Avengers: Age of Ultron. And somewhere between his introduction and his realized master plan, there is a convoluted plot that involves way too many moving pieces to ever be possible in any semblance of the real world.

The real kicker is when Honest Trailers points out just how many similarities there are between Civil War and Batman v. Superman, which was famously panned by critics. It also nails the new pseudo title for the movie: Captain America 3: Avengers 2.5 – that escalated quickly.
