Pokémon GO buddy system Easter Egg gives a nice bonus to Pikachu fans

The latest update to Pokémon GO will allow you to choose a favorite Pokémon from your collection and have it walk beside you as you tour about the town looking for new monsters to catch. Aside from providing benefits like extra candies and faster evolution, it’s also just really darn cute.

Pikachu fans will be especially thrilled to learn that he gets an added bonus from this update that mimics the popular cartoon. Ash’s Pikachu, for lots of reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with marketing, never enters his PokéBall. Instead, he opts to ride along Ash’s shoulders throughout his journeys, acting as his constant companion and friend.

According to The Silph Road, Pokémon GO will replicate this action if you choose Pikachu to be your buddy. Most Pokémon will stand beside your trainer if chosen as the favorite, but after walking 10km, Pikachu gets the unique action of riding along on your shoulder!

Whew, I’m glad they didn’t give that ability to Snorlax! The update has been sent off for approval and should be available for Android and iOS in the coming days.
