Elon Musk: Help us solve SpaceX rocket explosion

Earlier this month, Elon Musk’s space exploration efforts suffered a pretty big setback when a SpaceX rocket exploded during routine pre-launch preparations. The company still hasn’t figured out exactly what went wrong, and now Musk is asking the public to help solve the mystery.

In a series of tweets on Friday, Musk admitted that SpaceX is struggling to figure out what went wrong. He called the dramatic explosion “the most difficult and complex failure” in the company’s history. Specifically, SpaceX is looking for recordings of the event, suggesting its own videos aren’t providing enough information.

Multiple reports have claimed that some other object might have hit the Falcon 9 rocket shortly before the event, potentially causing the explosion. That might be the “quieter bang” mentioned by Musk. He also notes that the company hasn’t ruled out this possibility in a response to one of his tweets.

If you have a video of the event or any other information that could be useful you can send it to report@spacex.com.
