While I’m sure many of the Apple faithful reacted to an official Super Mario game on iOS with a passing shrug, for Nintendo fans and the overlap the two company’s share, it’s a big deal. It almost convinced me to change over to iPhone for the first time from Android.
But then Nintendo spoke up about Android availability and put my mind at ease. In a statement to Kotaku, Nintendo confirmed that it would be bringing Super Mario Run to Android devices eventually.
We do intend to release the game on Android devices at some point in the future.
As it stands now, though, Super Mario Run is “coming soon” to the App Store. It is not a free-to-play app and will require a premium price to buy in. My thoughts? I’ve never been big on the New Super Mario Bros. aesthetic, but I’ll absolutely give it a try. The level design in this trailer is superb!
