HTC teases new phone announcement for Sept. 20

HTC appears to be a no-show at IFA 2016, the big tech show taking place this week in Berlin, but it turns out the company still has something big coming next month. HTC recently revealed plans for a big mobile announcement officially set for September 20.

The quick teaser doesn’t really reveal much, but it does seem to confirm plans for a new smartphone (or smartphones) with a big rear camera. HTC almost includes the hashtag #BeEdgier, but we’re not really sure what that’s supposed to mean.

The device briefly teased in the video above looks pretty similar to images of the rumored Desire 10 Pro and Desire 10 Lifestyle that leaked earlier this month. The mid-range Lifestyle is expected to pack a 5.5-inch 720p display, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera and Boomsound Hi-Fi Edition speakers. The Pro model may offer slightly better specs, but it still won’t be a flagship-level device.

Rumor has it HTC is also working on a follow-up to the One A9 called the One A9s. The device leaked earlier this week with a design that looks a lot like the iPhone 6s. It’s expected to come in white, silver, gold and black color options with a 13-megapixel rear camera.

It’s possible HTC could unveil all of these new devices at the same event, though the teaser suggests we’ll only see one new design revealed. Either way, the official announcement is just a few weeks away so we should learn more pretty soon.
