Renegade Kid, makers of Mutant Mudds and Xeodrifter, shuts down

Renegade Kid, a studio with 10 years of game development history, is officially no more. Co-founders Jools Watsham and Gregg Hargrove announced the news Monday.

This news doesn’t sound too terrible, though. The games are being split by the two partners, with their personal studios taking ownership of specific IP.

Here’s how the press release reads in that regard.

The award-winning library of Intellectual Properties that Renegade Kid has created over the past decade will be finding new homes. All of Renegade Kid’s “2D” games, including the Mutant Mudds series and Treasurenauts, will become the property of Atooi. All of Renegade Kid’s “3D” games, including the Dementium series and Moon Chronicles, will become the property of Infitizmo.

Atooi is Jools Watsham’s studio, while Infitizmo belongs to Gregg Hargrove. Atooi opened in 2015, while Infitizmo begain in 2016.

Hopefully this means we’ll see even more games from two quality developers. Treasurenauts, which is still unreleased, goes to Atooi, and I’m hoping Watsham gets that one out into the wild soon. I’ve been looking forward to it for a while now.
