The first teaser for Denis Villeneuve’s Arrival, based on a short story from Ted Chiang, has been released, and it gives us just enough without revealing too much.

Here’s the movie’s official description, courtesy of Paramount Pictures:

When mysterious spacecraft touch down across the globe, an elite team—lead by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams)—are brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers—and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.

Wait, are we sure Adams isn’t just playing Louise Lane again?

Arrival star Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, and Forest Whitaker, and is scheduled for a Nov. 11 release.
