The NX scores its fourth confirmed game, but you’ll never get to play it

Oh, that trailer is just so good!

Japanese gaming magazine has Famitsu has confirmed the fourth game that will be available on the Nintendo NX console. Joining The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Just Dance 2017, and that excellent looking new Sonic the Hedgehog game, Square Enix is now confirmed to be bringing Dragon Quest X to the console.

Before, the game was only rumored alongside Dragon Quest XI, but we now have confirmation from Famitsu, via DualShockers.  Square Enix will also be giving it a PlayStation 4 port.

However, as all Dragon Quest fans know, getting this game in North America is no different than chasing a unicorn. A massive fan movement to get the Nintendo 3DS remakes of Dragon Quest VII and Dragon Quest VIII localized almost never happened, meaning that an MMORPG that must be constantly maintained and updated in two languages stands no chance.

Square Enix wants to please its fans but obviously can’t justify any localizations based on the cost of running an MMO and the niche appeal of the franchise in the English speaking world. If you want my advice, Dragon Quest X is a lost cause. Keep your focus on Dragon Quest XI for the NX and PlayStation 4, and be happy with the games we’ve gotten so far.

Dragon Quest X is also available for the Wii, PC, Nintendo 3DS, and smartphones in Japan. It has been released in three different versions so far, making a potential NX version the 4.0 build.
