Make that two massive torrent sites that have been shut down in the last month. First KickassTorrents, and now, a torrent site that began operation in 2003.

Earlier today, Torrentz disabled its search features and posted a farewell to users. You can still visit the site, but nothing works. Upon first load, the standard search bar appears with text below that reads, “Torrentz was a free, fast and powerful meta-search engine combining results from dozens of search engines.”

If you try to access other parts of the site, the message changes to “Torrentz will always love you. Farewell.”

So much for that, then.

Torrentz never hosted actual Torrent files. Instead, it served as a search engine for them.

TorrentFreak was contacted by the operator of Torrentz, according to their story. They did not provide comment, but the torrent news site says that Torrentz is “shutting down, leaving a gaping hole.” TorrentFreak
