The Nintendo NX will have a Zelda, Mario and Pokémon in first 6 months, not as powerful as PS4, says report

It sounds like Nintendo will have three marquee franchises ready to rock on the Nintendo NX before the console is half-a-year-old.

MCV has it from “sources close to Nintendo” that the Nintendo NX will have the already-announced The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a new Mario title and a Game Freak-developed Pokémon. Whether that’s a Stadium-type game or a more traditional RPG remains to be seen. These games, according to the sources, will come during the first six months after the NX launches.

Quite frankly, a traditional Pokémon on the NX within its first six months would absolutely slaughter.

MCV was told that Nintendo is trying to make sure that the NX has a much stronger start than their last two platform launches, the Wii U and the 3DS.

MCV‘s sources also suggest that Nintendo is trying to court smartphone gamers with the NX, indicating that it won’t be as powerful as the PlayStation 4. They even have a quote from an “exec that has got hands on with the machine.”

“It’s a nice bit of kit, a bit of a novelty, but a good one… It won’t appeal to PS4 fans. Nintendo seems set on trying to upgrade smartphone gamers. That’s going to be a big job for the marketing department.”

We’ll have more about the Nintendo NX as it comes.
