Apple launches international Smart Keyboards for iPad Pro

Apple is now offering international versions of its Smart Keyboard for iPad Pro. Both the 9.7- and 12.9-inch varieties now come in three new layouts for different regions, while their price tags remain exactly the same.

It’s been almost a year since Apple first launched the Smart Keyboard alongside the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, so it’s unclear why it has taken so long for international versions to arrive. But now they’re here for those who use Arabic, Italian, and British English layouts.

Aside from the mostly small differences in layout, the new Smart Keyboards look and feel exactly the same. If you already purchased a U.S. English model for your iPad Pro, then, you’re not going to miss out too much — especially if you’re already used to it by now.

Sadly, Apple isn’t giving existing Smart Keyboard owners an opportunity to swap their U.S. English model for an international version in different regions — which isn’t too surprising. The company hasn’t confirmed plans to launch other layouts yet, either.

The Smart Keyboard is an excellent addition to iPad Pro for those who need to get things done on the go — but it certainly isn’t perfect. Unlike third-party alternatives, it doesn’t offer function keys and other nice features like backlit keys.
