Pokémon GO glitch changes the Pokémon you catch

Amidst all the drama Pokémon GO developer Niantic has found itself in over their recent patch and the decision to shut down third party Pokémon tracking services like Pokévision comes a “fun” new glitch.

Going after that Growlithe? By the time it shows up in your Pokédex after you catch it, it might turn into a Pidgey.

Reddit user even-worse has shared a clip that shows their efforts to catch a Poliwag only to see it change to a Rattata immediately after it’s caught. Here’s the clip in question.

Niantic hasn’t responded to the reports of this glitch. Anecdotally, I haven’t seen this one yet, and I’ve played quite a bit since the new update went live.

However, other Reddit users are reporting that this is happening to them, too. The_Number_13 says it best with this:

This happened to me earlier today. I caught a weedle and it ended up being an electabuzz…. I never thought I’d be excited about catching weedles ever.

Has this happened to any of you?
