Pokémon Sun and Moon trailer reveals new Alola Forms, Z-Moves and more

If you thought Pokémon were done changing with the introduction of Mega Evolutions a few years back, you’re in for a surprise thanks to the upcoming Pokémon Sun and Moon. A brand new trailer has revealed the Alola Forms, brand new forms for familiar Pokémon that come thanks to the game’s new Alola region.

The trailer above does a great job showcasing this change with the example of Exeggutor. His Alola form takes him from being a stout, Grass and Psychic palm tree-looking beast to a tall, Grass and Dragon dinosaur lookalike.

Vulpix, Ninetales, Sandshrew and Sandslash all have Alola Forms, as debuted by this trailer, that bring completely new mechanics to their play styles and types.

The trailer reveals new Pokémon, another take on riding Pokémon, The Island Challenge, and the arrival of Z-Moves. Z-Moves are “a new way to attack,” and this once-per-battle move appears to yield absolutely devastating results when combined with the right Pokémon and type.

Pokémon Sun and Moon will hit the Nintendo 3DS on November 18, 2016.
