OnePlus 3 Dash Charge now works with custom ROMs

One of the OnePlus 3‘s best features is Dash Charge, which can charge you device up to 60 percent in just 30 minutes. The company recently opened up the technology to custom ROMs by releasing the kernel code for Dash Charge online.

Dash Charge is actually based on VOOC charging technology from Oppo, which is owned by the same parent company as OnePlus. Because of the way the new feature works, it requires some special extra code on the smartphone that previously wasn’t compatible with third-party software.

There’s still one big catch when it comes to fast charging with the OnePlus 3. Dash Charge only works with a special charging adapter and cable that comes bundled with the device. OnePlus is the only company selling those products, meaning Dash Charge won’t work with a third-party replacement.

It could be a little while longer before developers can add Dash Charge to their ROMs, but we should see the results roll out pretty soon. You can find the code on GitHub by clicking the source link below.
