Get your wallets ready because there’s only six weeks to wait until you can pre-order your iPhone 7, according to one reliable tipster. Apple’s next-generation devices will reportedly be up for grabs on Friday, September 9.
According to Evan Blass (@evleaks), that’s the date you will be able to place your order for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus — and maybe the rumored “iPhone 7 Pro,” though many are still skeptical a third model will be introduced.
“You can extrapolate the launch event date from there,” Blass writes in his tweet. Based on Apple’s previous iPhone launch schedules, this suggests the iPhone 7 series will actually launch — and pre-order deliveries will be made — on Friday, September 16.
Blass had previously revealed that the iPhone 7 would launch during the week beginning September 12, so it was already assumed that September 16 would be the big day. Apple has always made its latest iPhones available on a Friday.
This launch date also tells us that the company is likely to announce its new devices the week prior to this — probably on Tuesday, September 6, the day after Labor Day in the U.S.
The iPhone 7 is expected to bring an improved iSight camera, Apple’s latest A10 processor, an additional speaker, and maybe even a water-resistant design. The iPhone 7 Plus is expected to deliver much of the same, but with Apple’s first dual-lens camera module.
