First Galaxy Note 7 ad spills a bunch of big features

Samsung won’t make the Galaxy Note 7 official until August 2, but that hasn’t stopped the South Korean company from releasing a new teaser ad that spills a bunch of big features — including the handset’s water-resistant design.

Thanks to recent leaks, there’s not much we don’t already know about the Galaxy Note 7 at this point. Most things are still up in the air until Samsung makes its new phablet official next month, but thanks to this teaser trailer, there are some features we can be sure are coming.

Samsung’s 30-second clip starts by showing off complicated pattern unlock screens, which suggest the company will deliver an easier method of unlocking your smartphone (like an iris scanner). An image of a road sign then all but confirms the handset’s curved display.

Fancy shots of highlighter pens halfway through the video hint at the return of the beloved S Pen — a staple of the Galaxy Note series — while a shot of phones under water indicate the Note 7 will indeed be water-resistant, just like the Galaxy S7 series.

The video ends by teasing the Galaxy Note 7’s name, which is obviously somewhat unusual given that the device will be following last year’s Galaxy Note 5.

There’s less than a week to wait until Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 launch event in New York City, so all of these things will be made official then. It’s still unclear when the device will actually go on sale, but we’re expecting it to hit shelves around mid-August.
