What are Pokémon GO’s most powerful techniques in battle?

by Ron Duwell | July 26, 2016July 26, 2016 9:15 am PDT

While battling across multiple gyms in my area, I discovered that my Vaporeon was proving to be “super effective” against Pokémon with a vastly superior CP count. What gives? It turns out, much like World of Warcraft in a way, that Damage Per Second (DPS) matters just as much as outright power when it comes to choosing the right abilities.

My Vaporeon is doing so well because it is armed with the “Water Gun” ability. While unimpressive in the normal game as a basic water attack for low level monsters, in Pokémon GO, it’s proving to be all the rage because of its high DPS count. The animation is so fast that the skill can easily squeeze off five or six shots in the amount of time it takes an opponent to pull off one!

It might not pack much punch, but that speedy hit count really builds up and makes it a very effective attack. Realizing this, The Silph Road Network worked out a list of the best techniques in regards to both power and speed.

Keep in mind that Pokémon randomly learn abilities in Pokémon GO and can’t be assigned them in any way… yet. You might land yourself an ultimate Snorlax or Dragonite, but it could still be at a loss without one of these powerful attacks.

Here are the 30 best abilities in the game, 15 tap attacks and 15 charge attacks, according to the website.
