If Apple is indeed planning to make a relatively small upgrade to this year’s iPhone, focusing on some camera features and a new processor but not so much on the design, than this rumor makes sense. In any other universe, it does not, so take it with a grain of salt.
Apfelpage.de, after speaking with sources in China, said recently that Apple will name this year’s iPhone the iPhone 6SE instead of the iPhone 7. If true, it suggests a small upgrade to the device while Apple holds out for its big upgrade in 2017, as most reports suggest. That, according to this rumor, is when Apple will move on to naming its device the iPhone 7.
Of course, this doesn’t line up with other reports, many of which have suggested Apple has an iPhone 7 and an iPhone 7 Plus to announce in September. It may even launch an iPhone 7 Pro, though whispers about that device have gone mum in recent months.
We don’t know what to believe at this point, but just know somewhere out there someone believes the new iPhone will be called the iPhone 6SE instead of the iPhone 7.
