Jared Leto’s Joker is delightfully psychotic in latest Suicide Squad trailer

Based on what we’ve heard, Jared Leto’s Joker will be more of a nuisance rather than the main focus of next month’s Suicide Squad, and a new trailer focused on the character reveals he’ll have a lot of fun tormenting Task Force X.

While the trailer focuses mainly on Leto’s flashy new take on the Clown Prince of Crime, it helps fill in a few gaps, too. For one, it sounds like poor Joker finds out Harley Quinn and the rest of the squad are taken out of Belle Reve, the famed prison and sanatorium. While the squad are on their mission, they seem to have many run-ins with Mr. J, causing quite a bit of havoc along the way.

But how much will Leto’s Joker actually be in the movie if he’s not the main bad guy? The trailer suggests he’ll have a pretty big role, but previous reports have said he’s more of a tertiary character. You can see new footage of Leto’s Joker in the trailer above—bonus points for some new footage of Batman, too.

Suicide Squad hits theaters on Aug. 5.
