There are some minor spoilers ahead. If you want to know absolutely nothing about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 then stop reading.

We don’t have a trailer or footage to scope out but Marvel did reveal new details for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which just wrapped filming. Among the news, director James Gunn on Saturday confirmed actor Kurt Russell will be playing the father of Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt). But here’s something nobody expected: Quill’s father is Ego, also known as Ego the Living Planet in the comics.

“Yeah, his dad is a planet,” Gunn said. “Sort of. It will all be explained in the film… What Nova Prime said about Peter’s father at the end of Vol. 1 is certainly true—he is something ancient and unknown. And, as we will discover, being a cosmic being, alone for eons, is perhaps even more lonely than being the universe’s sole talking raccoon.”

Gunn goes on to reveal a few more tidbits about what to expect. For one, Nebula is going to play a major part in the sequel. In the first Guardians of the Galaxy, the character was essentially Ronan’s side kick and harbored huge animosity toward her dad, Thanos. Why she decides to team up with the Guardians is unclear but you can bet it won’t be her first choice.

Additionally, Gunn said Sylvester Stallone has a role in the film, while Elizabeth Debicki is playing Ayesha, a golden High Priestess “of a genetically-perfect people called the Sovereign.”

Finally, Gunn confirmed a Guardians of the Galaxy attraction is coming to Disneyland’s California Adventure and will replace Tower of Terror.

“The Walt Disney Imagineering folks showed me what they had in mind and MY MIND WAS COMPLETELY BLOWN,” Gunn said. “It was awesome. Exhilarating and novel and interactive.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5, 2017.
