Man arrested after saying he may “pay Blizzard a visit with an AK47”

A few players were talking about this over chat last night in Overwatch, and here I’ve run across the story while writing posts. It’s true, someone has been arrested following some pretty extreme threats of violence against Blizzard.

According to a press release sent out yesterday by the U.S. Department of Justice, 28-year-old Stephen Cebula has been arrested and charged with “making threats to injure employees of the video-game company Blizzard…”

Earlier in July, Cebula apparently sent messages “over the internet to Blizzard.” In those messages, he said that he “may or may not pay [Blizzard] a visit with an AK47 amongst some other ‘fun’ tools.” He went on to say that he “might be inclined to ‘cause a disturbance’ at [Blizzard’s] headquarters in California with an AK47 and a few other ‘opportunistic tools.’”

Pretty awful.

If Cebula is convicted, he’s looking at a maximum sentence of five years and a $250,000 fine.
