System Shock remake confirmed for a PlayStation 4 release in early 2018

Night Dive Studios, with its Kickstarter goal of $900,000 far in the rear-view mirror, has addressed the biggest demand that its System Shock remake has gotten since announcing stretch goals. The game will be getting a full console release on PlayStation 4, and both the official Kickstarter page and PlayStation Blog are more than happy to break the news.

No stretch goal was required, either. Night Dive just reshuffled its priorities and found a way to squeeze the PlayStation 4 version in.

After we saw the overwhelming demand for PS4, we reshuffled our priorities and focused on talking to Sony about making that happen. After a few weeks and lotttts [sic] of emails, we are officially on track for bringing System Shock to the PS4! No stretch goal for it. We’re adding it in as a thank you to our backers that put their faith in us.

The project currently sits at $1 million with a week remaining. Night Dive hasn’t committed to an Xbox One release yet, but that could be an option in the future. Originally, the studio was focused solely on a PC release, but obviously the console demand was a little too strong. It just chose the bigger audience.
