Live-action Pokémon movie confirmed by Legendary, will focus on Detective Pikachu

Rumors of Legendary Entertainments’ interest in a  live-action Pokémon movie have proven to be true. The studio has struck a deal with The Pokémon Company, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, the new film will focus on the Nintendo 3DS game Detective Pikachu.

No grand Pokémon adventures here. We’re going the gumshoe route!

Legendary is keeping all other details under wraps for the moment, but the film is being pushed up the priorities list to begin filming in 2017. The company no doubt wants to capitalize on the recent resurgence the series has seen thanks to the unprecedented success of Pokémon GO.
