During a 24-hour live stream event dedicated to getting the Japanese crowd pumped up for upcoming Persona 5 announcements, Atlus took the opportunity to show off 15 minutes of never-before-seen gameplay. The footage contains battle gameplay and social link events as well as the return of unique character skills and even a fishing mini-game!
Because a JRPG where you can’t take a break from your adventure and just enjoy some good ol’ fishin’ is only half of a JRPG.
And, of course, Persona just isn’t Persona without that unmistakable hip hoppin’ music beating away in the background. Good stuff, but it remains to be seen if it can carry on the legacy of Persona 4.
The NicoNico event itself is set to air later today in Japan, so you can expect a stream of announcements as long as they re not exclusive to Atlus in Japan.
Persona 5 will launch for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in North America on February 14. Deep Silver will publish the game in Europe on an unknown date. Lucky Japanese fans get to play the game on September 15, giving them 15 days to beat it before the launch of Final Fantasy XV.
