The Berserk “Warriors” Musou game is officially getting a western release

Publisher Koei Tecmo and developer Omega Force announced last month during E3 that the next “Warriors” game from the developer best known for games like Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors will be a game based on the Berserk anime and manga series. While they didn’t announce it formally, it looked like the game would probably come west – the PC release it’s getting alongside consoles and PS Vita is often a good indication.

Now, Koei Tecmo has confirmed that the game will, indeed, come westward.

The publisher announced via press release that the game is set to release this fall across PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC via Steam. That’s right, Vita owners, a new game is coming.

Koei Tecmo didn’t provide a release date beyond “Fall 2016,” but that does narrow the time frame down significantly. It doesn’t sound like we’ll see an extended wait from its Japanese release of September 21.

The Berserk series has been going in manga form since 1989 and anime form since 1997. With the manga set to resume production soon and a brand new Berserk anime hitting Japanese televisions and American streaming services, it’s the perfect time to bring the series to modern consoles. Berserk is set in a brutal medieval world and centers around a character named Guts who wields a massive sword called the Dragon Slayer. Incidentally, the Dragon Slayer has been used to kill just about everything but dragons in the last 27 years.

Whether you’re a fan of the Berserk series, of the Warriors games, or you just want to see where the Japanese “gigantic sword” fad really started, you’ll have your chance this fall.
