Head to Yelp’s website and you should see a new “Pokéstop nearby” filter alongside regular options like “Open Now” and “Great for Late Night.” You can also use the new setting to limit your search results in the company’s app for iOS and Android.
To power the new feature Yelp is relying on the same crowd-sourced info that fuels its restaurant rankings. The next time you check into a restaurant or leave a review the app may also ask you whether there’s a Pokéstop nearby.
It’s a nice addition, though we think Yelp can do even better. A second filter that helps you find nearby Pokémon gyms would be super useful, making it easy to enjoy a few battles while you enjoy your lunch. The company could even allow users to mark locations where they found rare Pokémon, which isn’t an option in the official Pokémon GO app.
Yelp has the opportunity to become a must-have app for Pokémon GO players around the world. The infrastructure is already there, all we need now is a few more filters and review options.
