Sonos is already a household name when it comes to wireless speaker systems, but this month it’s pushing into new territory. The California company is opening its first retail store right in the heart of New York, and we got an early look at the new gorgeous new shop.

Sonos designed the store to replicate the experience of listening to Sonos speakers at your friend’s house. To pull that off the company built six Listening Rooms shaped like miniature houses and packed full of various speakers. There’s some special software designed to guide you through the experience and employees on-hand to help out, but you’re also free to just jam out for as long as you want.

The store also features some pretty cool art, including a portrait of Sonos advisor Rick Rubin, a collection of old music zines organized and displayed by genre, and a massive “Wall of Sound” made from 297 speakers. There’s also a cool downstairs lounge with a digital fireplace display and a seventh Listening Room where you can play old records on Sonos speakers.

The Sonos store is set to open next week on July 19 located at 101 Green Street in Manhattan’s touristy SoHo neighborhood. The company is kicking things off with a week full of events, including special listening sessions and some free snacks, so drop by if you’re in the area.
