Prey for the Gods is a game that obviously takes a lot of inspiration from the beloved PlayStation 2 classic, Shadow of the Colossus. You play as a young man tasked with climbing on the backs of huge monsters and finding ways to bring them down. I mean, it doesn’t get more clear cut than that.
However, Prey for the Gods re-imagines the world as snow capped and gives this newest hero the best gift of all: a grappling hook! The $300,000 No Matter Studios is looking for might seem quite small, even for a small team, but it will be releasing the game in short bursts rather than one fell swoop.
Prey for the Gods will launch with 5 bosses. At the initial budget of $300k, we’ll release the game on PC with boss types ranging from bipedal, quadruped and flying body types. This combined with intense survival based action combat, dynamic weather, and non-linear game play will give players a great experience at a fair value.
This will be the most basic package if the $300,00o is reached, and the team will expand the boss roster based on the game’s success. Kickstarter stretch goals will only help to secure more gameplay, more attacks for the bosses and more settings.
Kickstarter is looking desperate for a high profile success story this year with numbers down across the board in regards to video games. No Matter Studios already has enough content finished to look like the real deal, and the game comes off as a wonderful spin on a popular formula. I’d say this is worth checking out.
